Breath Shaper

Breath shaper

To a dragon, their breath is their life, their magic, and everything. And now, so it is to you.

Breath Shaper Dedication

Feat 2

uncommonarchetypededication

Prerequisites Trained in Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion

Whether through careful study of dragonkind or your own unique connection to dragon’s blood, you have unlocked the secrets of shaping your breath into that of a dragon’s. You gain the Additional Lore feat for Dragon Lore. You gain the Dragon’s Breath action. The DC for an ability gained through this archetype is either your class DC or your spell DC, whichever is higher, and is referred to as your breath DC.

Dragon’s Breath aa (fire) You breathe in deeply, then exhale in a destructive fury. You deal 2d6 fire damage to each creature in a 40-foot line or a 20-foot cone with a basic Reflex save against your breath DC. You can’t use this ability again for 1d4 rounds. At 5th level and every 2 levels thereafter, the damage increases by 1d6.

Special Your Dragon’s Breath action gains the Arcane, Divine, Primal, or Occult trait depending on which skill you used to qualify for this feat. If you are trained in multiple of these skills, you must select one trait to apply, and this trait cannot be changed. This skill is known as your tradition skill.

Bountiful Breath

Feat 4

archetype

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication

While dragons are innately tied to flame in the minds of many, you know that a dragon’s breath is far more varied than that. Choose a Draconic Exemplar (Draconic Codex 207) whose magical tradition matches your tradition skill. You may change the damage type and relevant trait of your Dragon's Breath each time you use it to match your Draconic Exemplar's damage type, which may also alter the saving throw required for creatures. (For instance, if you choose a Vorpal dragon, you can use your Dragon's Breath to deal void damage, losing the fire trait and gaining the void trait with your Dragon's Breath, and requiring a basic Will save instead of a Reflex save.) If you choose a Draconic Exemplar that deals fire damage, you may instead increase the die size of your Dragon's Breath by one step when dealing fire damage.

Special You may take this feat multiple times. Each time you do, you select another Draconic Exemplar you qualify for.

Dragon's Voice

Feat 4

archetypeskill

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication, trained in Diplomacy or Intimidation

Dragonkind can feel your breath within your voice and instinctually recognize you as one of their own. You gain a +1 circumstance bonus on checks to Coerce, Make an Impression, or Request involving dragons. This increases to a +2 if you have at least master proficiency in the skill you use. You gain Draconic as a language known.

Breathshape: Actions with the breathshape trait alter your Dragon's Breath ability, and are known as breathshape feats. If you use any action (including free actions and reactions) other than Dragon's Breath directly after, you waste the benefits of the breathshape action. The benefit is also lost if your turn ends before you use Dragon's Breath. Any additional effects added by a breathshape action are part of Dragon's Breath's effect, not of the breathshape action itself.

Expand Breath a

Feat 4

archetypebreathshape

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication

You tap deeply into your internal well of draconic power to expand your breath. If your next action is to use Dragon’s Breath, you may increase the area of the line or cone you create by 10 feet for a cone or 20 feet for a line.

Special If you have the Burst Breath feat, you may use this feat to increase the area of the burst by 5 feet and its range by 20 feet.

Burst Breath

Feat 6

uncommonarchetype

archetypebreathshape

You have learned to tell friend from foe, even on instinct. If your next action is to use Dragon’s Breath, you may designate up to six allies. These allies are unaffected by your Dragon’s Breath if they are within its area.

Clinging Breath a

Feat 8

archetypebreathshape

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication

The energies of your breath cling to your foes. If your next action is to use Dragon’s Breath, any creature that fails its save against it takes 1d8 persistent damage of the same type as your Dragon’s Breath. This damage increases by 1d8 at 13th and 18th level.

The breath of battle carries you forward. Whenever you score a critical hit with a Strike, spell attack roll, or impulse attack roll, you recharge your Dragon's Breath.

Expanded Traditions

Feat 10

archetype

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication, Bountiful Breath, master in your tradition skill and one other of Arcana, Nature, Occultism, or Religion

You are not as limited as some when it comes to your magical talents. You gain a second trait from among Arcane, Divine, Primal, or Occult, of which you have master proficiency in the matching skill, which becomes a second tradition skill, and you may apply either trait to your Dragon's Breath. You also gain an additional Draconic Exemplar from among the options available to this skill.

Destructive Breath a

Feat 12

archetypebreathshape

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication

The might of your breath can overwhelm the defenses of your enemies. If your next action is to use Dragon's Breath, it ignores an amount of resistance to its damage type equal to your level. A creature's immunities are unaffected.

Quicken Breath f

Feat 12

archetypebreathshape

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication
Frequency once per day

Your breath control allows you to expel energies rapidly. If your next action is to use Dragon’s Breath, you reduce the number of actions it takes to use it to 1.

Lung Expansion

Feat 14

archetype

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication, Expand Breath

You have learned how to channel your breath more efficiently. Your Dragon’s Breath area permanently increases to a 30-foot cone and a 60-foot line

Special If you have the Burst Breath feat, it permanently increases to a 20-foot burst within 60 feet.

Weakening Breath f

Feat 14

archetypebreathshape

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication
Frequency once per 10 minutes

Your breath can drain the very life force out of your foes. If your next action is to use Dragon’s Breath, any creatures that fail their save against it become your choice of clumsy 1, enfeebled 1, or stupified 1 for a minute (clumsy 2, enfeebled 2, or stupified 2 on a critical failure). All creatures must gain the same condition.

Hazardous Breath a

Feat 16

archetypebreathshape

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication

Your breath retains life even outside of your lungs. If your next action is to use Dragon’s Breath, it leaves an area of hazardous terrain behind in the area that lasts for 1 minute. Each time a creature moves into one of the squares in this area, they take 1d10 damage of the same type as your Dragon’s Breath.

Master Shaper aaa

Feat 18

archetype

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication, at least two breathshape feats
Frequency once per hour
Requirements You are able to use Dragon's Breath

You are a true master of shaping breath. You use Dragon’s Breath, applying the effects of two Breathshape feats to it (except Quicken Breath).

Dragon God's Decree aaa

Feat 20

archetypedeath

Prerequisites Breath Shaper Dedication, legendary in your tradition skill
Frequency once per day
Requirements You are able to use Dragon's Breath

You channel the power of the draconic gods themselves through your breath. You create your choice of a 50-foot cone, a 100-foot long, 10-foot wide line, or a 30-foot burst within 100 feet. All creatures within the area take 12d12 damage of no type with a basic Reflex save against your breath DC. Any creatures reduced to 0 HP by Dragon God’s Decree are obliterated entirely, leaving only their gear behind. Creatures killed in this manner may only be brought back by a Wish ritual, divine intervention, or similarly powerful magical effects.

After using Dragon God’s Decree, you become drained 1 (or increase your drained condition by 1, to a maximum of 4) from the sheer effort of channeling that much magic, and you must wait 1 hour before you can use your normal Dragon’s Breath again (you cannot recharge Dragon's Breath faster by any means after using this feat).

Special This feat gains the trait of one your tradition skill whenever you use it.
