Dragon Shifter

Your druidic order is deeply devoted and connected to dragons.

Dragon Shifter 1st

You are spiritually attuned to dragonkind. You must select dragon shifter dedication as your 2nd-level class feat.

Prerequisites: You must be a druid.

Dragon Shifter Adjustments: You don't gain the Primal Hierophant, Shield Block, Voice of Nature, and Wild Willpower class features.

Your proficiency ranks for light and medium armor, as well as for unarmored defense, increase to master at 19th level.

Your proficiency in unarmed attacks increases to expert and you gain critical specialization for unarmed attacks at 5th level. You gain master proficiency in unarmed attacks at 13th level.

At 13th level, you gain master proficiency in Fortitude saves. When you roll a success on a Fortitude save, you get a critical success instead.

At 15th level, you gain master proficiency in Will saves.

Spellcasting Adjustments: Your spellcasting capabilities are more restricted. At 1st level, you can prepare one 1st-rank spell and five cantrips. As you increase in level, your number of spell slots and the highest rank of spells you can cast from spell slots increases, shown in Dragon Shifter Spells per Day. Because of your focus on your physical training at the expense of magical aptitude, you have no more than two spell slots of your highest rank and, if you can cast 2nd-rank spells or higher, two spell slots of 1 rank lower than your highest spell rank. For anything that requires the ability to cast spells of a certain rank that's lower than the highest slots you have, you still qualify even if you no longer have spell slots at those ranks.

Druidic Order Adjustments: Instead of choosing a druidic order, you align yourself with the dragon order. At 1st level, you gain the class feat, order spell, and proficiency in the Draconic language.

Your body is just as attuned to dragons as your soul is. You gain your choice of one of the following unarmed attacks. The attack is in the brawling group and has the listed damage die and traits.

  • Claw 1d6 slashing (agile, finesse, unarmed)
  • Jaws 1d8 piercing (forceful, unarmed)
  • Tail 1d6 bludgeoning (sweep, trip, unarmed)

Shifting Scales a

You adapt your body to mimic that of draconic scales at a moment's notice. Choose acid, cold, electricity, fire, or poison. Your unarmed attacks deal 1 additional damage of the chosen type, and you gain resistance 3 to the chosen type.

Once per round, you can Sustain this spell to change the damage type.

Heightened (+1) The additional damage and resistance both increase by 1.

Knowledge of draconic anatomy comes naturally to you. You can use Nature to Recall Knowledge on any creature with the dragon trait. If you do, you can learn only information pertaining to the biology of a creature—not any learned abilities or abilities granted by items.

Your ability to adapt your body to suit your needs expands. Whenever you cast or Sustain shifting scales, you can choose to gain a +1 status bonus to attack rolls, AC, or saving throws until the start of your next turn.

You are unerringly confident in your attempts to dishevel your opponent, but you completely collapse when you fail. Attempt a check to Feint, Reposition, Shove, or Trip an adjacent creature. On a success, you critically succeed. On a failure, you critically fail.

Readied Breath

The ability to weaponize your breath is as innate to you as it is to dragons. You can cast breathe fire without having it prepared ahead of time by expending a spell slot of a sufficient rank to cast it.

Empowered Armament

The unarmed attack granted to you by draconic armament becomes stronger, depending on your choice.

  • Claw Your claw gains the deadly d8 trait. Additionally, whenever you critically hit a creature with your claw, that creature takes a -1 circumstance penalty to their saving throw against the next spell you cast before the end of your next turn.

  • Jaws Your jaw gains the grapple trait. Additionally, whenever cast breathe fire on a creature that is grappled or restrained by your jaws, that creature uses the outcome one degree of success worse than the result of their saving throw.

  • Tail Your tail gains the reach trait. Additionally, whenever you critically succeed to Trip a creature, they suffer an additional amount of bludgeoning damage equal to your level.

You can bestow the draconic gift of flight. Once per day, you can cast 4th-rank fly as an innate primal spell.

At 12th level, you can do so twice per day. At 16th level, both casts heighten to 7th-rank.

You inherit some the benefits that dragons bear. You gain a +2 status bonus to saves against sleep and paralysis effects. Additionally, you increase your maximum hit points by your level.

You can harness the powers of not one, but two dragons simultaneously. When you cast or Sustain shifting scales, you can choose for the damage type of the additional unarmed attack damage to be a different type than the resistance.
