When it comes to beings of vast magical might, very few can measure up in sheer status than that of a dragon. It is no wonder that those seeking magical power often dream of the magical might available to dragonkind and their kin. You are one of the lucky few fortunate enough to study the magic of one of the many types of dragons; learning how to mimic their innate gifts using your mastery of the arcane. Some who follow this path do so under the guidance of a draconic mentor or a dragon's servant, such as how certain members of the Pathfinder Society have found tutilage opportunities with Valashinaz in exchange for assisting her with odd tasks around her vault. But others find themselves studying the stolen secrets of dragons under the tutelage of dragonslayers, such as those who seek to mirror the power of dread Daralathyxl, in order to end him should he ever reemerge to terrorize the Shining Kingdoms once more.
When you select this school or gain one of its features, you must choose a draconic benefactor, representing dragon type you have studied most closely. You can't change your benefactor later. This choice affects your curriculum and school spells.
Curriculum cantrips: shield, gouging claw; 1st: fear, mystic armor; 2nd: see benefactor spells below; 3rd: haste; 4th: fly, channel arrogance, reflective scales; 5th: see benefactor spells below; 6th: dragon form, repulsion; 7th: mask of terror, energy aegis; 8th: see benefactor spells below; 9th: overwhelming presence, incarnate draconic legion***
** you know and cast this spell as an arcane spell*
*** when casting this spell, you may choose to summon a legion of dragons based on your benefactor. if you do, their tradition, and energy annihilation damage are altered to match your benefactor.*
*School Spells* initial: Draconic Blast; advanced: draconic manifestation
By studying the magic of your benefactor, you’ve cultivated a selection of spells which can emulate their fearsome might. All Benefactor Spells are added to your curriculum at their listed ranks, and you know and cast them as arcane spells if they are not already arcane.
Any spell that your benefactor or their tradition grants a draconic bloodline sorcerer as a sorcerous gift of 2nd, 5th, or 8th rank is considered a benefactor spell of their rank. In addition, you gain a selection of spells called Draconic Energy Spells, inspired by the innate draconic magic of your benefactor as shown on the table below.

Yes, but learning from a dragon outside your tradition is tricky. It’s easier for Wizards to learn from Primal and Occult dragons due to each sharing one essence with Arcane magic. It takes a particularly dedicated wizard to learn from a Divine Dragon, but it remains possible.
This publication tries to account for every draconic benefactor available in Lost Omens: Draconic Codex; this list however, is not comprehensive. For example, there are draconic benefactors for the dragons found Starfinder Alien Core. In cases such as these, GMs are encouraged to fill out the blanks of benefactor spells using their best judgement. As an example, this is one way to represent an Akashic Dragon. First, for their Draconic Energy Spells you could either assign them to the Fire list due to the damage their breath deals, or make your own list of fitting spells. Looking at the sorcerous gifts it gains the occult list, and would then just need 3 spells of 2nd, 5th and 8th ranks to finish their curriculum.
As a GM, you may feel the modular construction philosophy of draconic energy spells doesn’t account for a dragon’s unique flavor. In this case you are encouraged to substitute some spells for ones from other lists. For example, if a Diabolic Dragon only receiving fire spells feels wrong due to the infernal nature of its fire, then you may wish to borrow a few spells from the spirit list and remove a couple to make room. And you are as always free to add a fitting spell not listed here directly to the curriculum; but be careful when adding spells outside the arcane tradition. While Blood-Feasting Breath directly invokes the fearsome breath of an arcane Vorpal Dragon, the healing it provides a wizard and their allies may make the wizard too effective of a healer.
Range 30 feet; Area 5-foot burst
Defense basic save (Determined by Benefactor)
You channel the raw energy of a dragon’s breath, firing a blast of energy that bears the fury of a dragon. Creatures in the area take 2d6 damage. The damage type, and save type match that of your draconic benefactor's breath. Draconic Blast has the damage trait matching the type of damage it deals, if applicable.
Heightened (+1) The damage increases by 1d6.
Duration until the end of your next turn
You’ve studied the essence of your benefactor so thoroughly that you are able to briefly wreath yourself in arcane energies to mimic a fraction of their power. The arcane energy shapes itself into ethereal draconic limbs overlaid on your body, as an extension of it. You gain the following actions until the end of your next turn.
Draconic Roar (arcane, aura, emotion, fear, mental) Trigger You finish casting Draconic Manifestation; Effect Each creature within 30 feet of you must attempt a will save against your spell DC. Allies may treat their save as one degree of success higher. Regardless of the result of the saving throw, all affected creatures become immune to Draconic Roar for 1 minute. Critical Success The creature is unaffected by the roar. Success The creature is frightened 1. Failure The creature is frightened 2. Critical Failure The creature is frightened 4.
Draconic Rush (move) Frequency once per round; For but a moment, you manifest or unfurl draconic wings harnessing a dragon’s power of flight. You fly twice even if you don’t have a fly speed. You gain a fly speed during this action equal to your Speed or 30 feet, whichever is greater. If you are still in the air after this movement, you float to the ground, with the effects of gentle landing.
Draconic Claw (arcane, attack) You make a spell attack roll against one creature in touch range, dealing 4d6+5 damage of the same type as your benefactor’s dragon breath on a hit. On a critical success, you deal double damage. Draconic Claw has the damage trait matching the type of damage it deals, if applicable.
Draconic Breath (arcane, flourish) You exhale deadly magical energy in an area, dealing 4d6 damage to each creature in the area with a basic save against your spell DC. The shape, damage type, and save type match that of your benefactor's dragon breath. If you used Draconic Breath in the last 4 rounds, each creature in the area treats the result of their check as one degree of success better. The shape is a 20-foot cone or a 75-foot line. Draconic Breath has the damage trait matching the type of damage it deals, if applicable.
Heightened (+1) Elemental Claw deals an additional 1d6 damage. Draconic Breath deals an additional 2d6 damage.
