Draconic Herald

(Class Archetype)

Rather than act as divine vessels who attune to the spirits of various beings, Draconic Heralds focus solely on channeling the spirits of different dragons.

Draconic Herald

1st

Because each dragon’s magic is often unique from one another, the powers these Animists gain are versatile yet harder to grasp, and even harder to let go due to the possessive natures of these dragons. You must select the Draconic Herald Dedication as your 2nd-level class feat.
Prerequisites: You must be an Animist.
    Key Attribute: Charisma
Draconic Herald Adjustment: You don’t gain the Supreme Incarnation class feature. You become trained in Dragon Lore. At 8th level, you become an expert in Dragon Lore; and at 16th level, you become a master in Dragon Lore. Dragon Lore is treated as an Apparition Skill for you. Your spell attack modifier and spell DC use your Charisma modifier instead of your Wisdom modifier.
Apparition Adjustment: You don’t use the normal Apparitions available to most Animists. Instead, you can only attune to the Draconic Apparitions listed below. Unlike normal Apparitions, Draconic Apparitions don’t have Vessel spells, Apparition Skills or Avatar forms, but instead have a magic tradition and a damage type associated with them. The grip your Primary Draconic Apparition holds on you is firm, as such you cannot willingly disperse your Primary Apparition and you cannot change which Draconic Apparition is your Primary Apparition by any means, except when you attune to your Apparitions during your daily preparations. If an effect would replace your Primary Apparition, such as when you Refocus or use the Circle of Spirits feat, you can instead disperse one of your other Apparitions, and if you do, you attune to an unattuned Draconic Apparition but become Stupefied 1 for 10 minutes as your mind adjusts to the spirits shifting through you.
Spellcasting Adjustment: You don’t prepare spells from the Divine spell list, but rather from the spell list associated with your Primary Apparition’s tradition.

Any Apparition spell that isn’t on the spell list of your Primary Apparition’s tradition are treated as spells from that list when you cast them with your Apparition spell slots.
You gain the Dragon’s Aid Vessel spell. Your Vessel spells are the same tradition as your Primary Apparition’s tradition. Because your Draconic Apparitions don’t have Vessel spells, your number of Focus Points don’t increase based on the number of Apparitions you're attuned to.

Dragon's Aid aa

Focus 1

uncommonanimistconcentratefocus

Range 30 feet

Duration Sustained, up to 1 minute

Requirements You are attuned to an Apparition

You call one of your attuned Apparitions onto an unoccupied space within range to assault your foes within a 15-foot emanation. Once per turn, when a creature Strikes an enemy in the emanation or targets it with a spell, the Apparition attacks the target afterwards, dealing 2 damage to it. This damage is the same type as the Apparition’s damage type. While you’re Sustaining this spell, you can cast this Apparition’s spells using the Apparition as the origin point. If the Apparition is dispersed, the spell ends.
Heightened (+2) The damage increases by 2.

Draconic Herald Dedication

Feat 2

archetypeclassdedication

Prerequisites Draconic Herald Animist

Your ability to harness dragon spirits improves, as your chosen practice gains additional features to suit your draconic endeavors.

  • Liturgist Once per hour, when you use Circle of Spirits to switch your attuned Apparitions, you don't become Stupefied. At 9th level, when you use Circle of Spirits while within the emanation of your Dragon’s Aid, you can replace the Apparition you used for the spell with the Apparition you just attuned to.
  • Medium While you have Relinquished Control to an Apparition, you don’t need to Sustain your Dragon’s Aid. At 9th level, when you attune to your Apparitions during your daily preparations, you must select the Apparition you have bonded with Relinquished Control as one of your Primary Apparitions. You can prepare your Animist spells from the spell lists of both of your Primary Apparitions, but they are treated as spells from your bonded Apparition’s tradition.
  • Seer The status bonus you gain to haunts also applies to the abilities of dragons, and you gain resistance equal to half your level to the damage type associated with your Primary Apparition. At 9th level, while sustaining your Dragon’s Aid, you and your allies gain the same amount of resistance to the damage type associated with the Apparition you used for the spell while within its emanation. If either damage type is spirit or void, the resistance you gain to that damage type is equal to your level instead.
3
  • Shaman Your familiar gains the Dragon trait, and when you cast Dragon’s Aid, you can have the spell emanate from your familiar instead. If you do, the Apparition you use must be the same one you have manifested as your familiar. At 9th level, your familiar gains resistance equal to your level to the damage type associated with the Apparition you have manifested as your familiar.
