Mushussu are flightless dragons found across Casmaron, with wild herds living among the verdant riverlands and coastal forests of Kelesh and domesticated individuals living among the gardens and estates of the Padishah Empire's wealthiest nobles. Seen as creatures holy to Sarenrae, the mushussu have a long history in Kelesh as guardians over ancient ziggurats and hanging gardens, with ancient carvings of the creatures among other animals seen in many of the Empire's archeological sites.
Mushussu are hybrid creatures just larger than a camel in size, though with a far longer neck. They are surprisingly intelligent, though don't speak any languages, and a mushussu's ability to appear as a protector in times of crisis is often ascribed to divine influence. Due to their religious status, none in Kelesh would consider capturing a mushussu against its will, and the majority of "domestic" mushussu are the result of ancestral bonds between a mushussu and a particular noble family.
Though most urban mushussu live lives of quiet luxury in elaborate menageries or temple sanctuaries, a growing faction among Kelesh's elite have been experimenting with using the creatures as war mounts in small, highly-trained cavalry formations. While this tactic has provoked anger from devoted Sarenites, none can question the effectiveness of these units against fiends and the wicked alike.
Though often conflated, mushussu are distinct, though closely related, cousins of the celestial dragons known as sirrush. Whenever a sirrush is called to the Universe to protect servants of the Dawnflower, a herd of mushussu is sure to appear soon after, reveling in the majesty of their more powerful cousins and eager to fight (or forgive) evil-doers alongside them.

Deflecting Horn Trigger A creature within 10 feet of the mushussu is targeted by a melee Strike; Effect The mushussu extends its neck and positions its head like a shield. The triggering Strike resolves against the mushussu instead of the original target, and it takes any damage or other effects from the Strike. If the Strike critically misses, the mushussu can make a horn Strike against the attacker.
Radiant Pulse (aura, divine, light) The mushussu emanates celestial radiance in a 10-foot emanation. The aura sheds bright light in its area and dim light in a 20-foot emanation beyond that. Holy creatures within the aura other than the mushussu are concealed against hostile unholy creatures. The mushussu can turn the aura on or off by using a single action with the concentrate trait.

Pacifying Bite (divine, holy, incapacitation) The mushussu's bite deters would-be aggressors. A creature that takes damage from the Mushussu's jaws Strike must attempt a DC 23 Will save. Regardless of the result, it becomes temporarily immune to pacifying bite for 1 hour.
Critical Success The creature is unaffected.
Success The creature takes a -1 status penalty to Strikes and spell attacks against the mushussu and its allies until the end of its next turn.
Failure As success, and the creature takes 1d8 mental and 1d8 spirit damage each time it targets an allied creature with a hostile action.
Critical Failure As failure, except the effect lasts for 1 minute.
Solar Breath (divine, fire, holy) The mushussu breathes a globe of sunfire up to a range of 60 feet that explodes in a 20-foot burst. Creatures in the burst take 3d10 fire and 3d10 spirit damage (DC 23 basic Reflex save). Creatures that fail also become dazzled for 1 round (for 1 minute on a critical failure). The mushussu can't use Solar Breath again for 1d6 rounds.
Though they are effectively impossible to train, a good-hearted and dedicated rider may claim a mushussu as a powerful steed. This advanced companion uses the rules found on page 93 of Pathfinder Howl of the Wild.
Your companion is a flightless but majestic dragon with a tall neck and chimeric body.

Support Benefit The mushussu's aura radiates defensively around you. Until the start of your next turn, the first time a creature successfully hits you with a melee Strike, they must succeed at a Constitution save or become dazzled until the end of their turn. This uses a trained DC using the mushussu's Wisdom modifier or an expert DC if the mushussu is specialized.
Advanced Maneuver Sunfire Burst
Frequency once per hour
The mushussu breathes a globe of solar flame that explodes in a 10-foot burst within 20 feet, dealing 1d4 fire and 1d4 spirit damage for every 2 levels the mushussu has to all creatures in the area (basic Reflex save). This uses the same DC as the mushussu's support benefit.
