Tulgey Wood Ranger, Jabberwock Slayer (yes jabberwocks are dragons)

Tulgey Wood Ranger

"Tulgey wood rangers are curious folk. Once, when camping with one, I awoke to her snacking on berries and preparing a pot of tea.
"Imagine my surprise when, a few yards from the edge of the campsite, I see what looks to be the remains of at least a half-dozen sabertooths, sliced to ribbons.
"As I stared agape at the scene before me, she approached from behind and handed me a cup of tea and fistful of jerky. What she said I won't soon forget:
  "'Quiet watch; No jabberwock.'"

Unbeknownst to many, jabberwocks are true dragons. Not just any true dragons, either, but among the deadliest.

Tulgey Wood Ranger [1st]

As a tulgey wood ranger, you have sworn to slay all jabberwocks, and seek to master the art of vorpal cuts. You must select Tulgey Wood Ranger Dedication as your 2nd-level class feat.

Prerequisites: You must be a ranger.

Tulgey Wood Ranger Adjustments: When selecting your hunter's edge class feature, you must select the vorpal edge.

You do not gain the Hunt Prey action. You gain the Declare Manxome Foe action. For the purposes meeting prerequisites, Declare Manxome Foe acts as Hunt Prey. For the purposes of targeting and meeting action requirements, treat your manxome foe as your hunted prey (for example, you could target your manxome foe with Twin Takedown).

Declare Manxome Foe

a

concentrateranger

Designate a single creature you can observe as your manxome foe. You can also designate a creature you are tracking during exploration as your manxome foe. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus on skill checks to Track your manxome foe. If your manxome foe has any one of the beast, dragon, fey, or tane traits, when you Strike your manxome foe, you critically succeed if you roll a 19 on the die as long as that result would be a success. This has no effect on a 19 if the result would be a failure. If your manxome foe has any one of the above traits, you succeed if you roll a 19 on the die, as long as that result would be a failure.

You may only have one manxome foe at a time. Feats or features that increase the number of prey you can have designated at a time do not increase the number of manxome foes you can have at a time.

Vorpal [Hunter's Edge]

When you critically succeed a Strike against your manxome foe, it must attempt a Fortitude save against your class DC. This saving throw has the incapacitation trait unless your manxome foe has any one of the beast, dragon, fey, or tane traits.

Critical Success The target is unaffected.

Success SNICK! The wound goes deep and will likely scar. The target takes additional slashing damage equal to half your level (minimum 1).

Failure SNACKER! Your target loses a finger, toe, ear, eye, or a similarly small body part. The target takes additional slashing damage equal to your level and is clumsy 2 for 1 round, and clumsy 1 until the lost body part is replaced or the wound is sufficiently cleaned and treated (which typically takes about 1 hour).

Critical Failure SNACKER-SNICK! You cleanly sever an arm, leg or other appendage. The target takes additional slashing damage equal to double your level and is stunned 1 and sickened 3 and cannot reduce its sickened value until the lost body part is replaced or the wound is sufficiently cleaned and treated (as described above).

Masterful Hunter [Vorpal Edge]

Treat all slashing melee and thrown weapons, as well as all weapons in the sword group, as if they were etched with the vorpal rune, even if the weapon normally could not be etched with the vorpal rune. This adds no additional value to the weapon, as it retains its original runes, and behaves normally when wielded by any other creature. If the weapon already had the vorpal rune, instead increase the DC of the saving throw from 37 to 41, trigger the effect on a natural 19 as well as a natural 20 (so long as the other trigger requirements are still met) and remove the incapacitation trait from the resulting saving throw if the target has any one of the beast, dragon, fey, or tane traits.

Tulgey Wood Ranger Dedication

Feat 2

Prerequisites Tulgey wood ranger

The word "tulgey" originates from the Fey word for "dark" or "foreboding". As a tulgey wood ranger, you train your mind to resist all manner of fear or despair, as well as the beguiling tricks of the First World minions that so often follow close behind the tane. You gain a +2 circumstance bonus to saving against emotion or mental effects that originate from creatures or effects with the beast, dragon, fey, or tane traits. The GM is the final arbiter on what qualifies as "originating".

Bryllyg Victuals

Feat 4

archetyperanger

Prerequisites Tulgey wood ranger

The word "bryllyg" originates from the Fey word for "the time when you begin broiling things for dinner." As a tulgey wood ranger, you must never be caught on an empty stomach (the slaying of dragons and beasts of foul temperment is hungry work). Each day during your daily preparations, you come across just enough berries, nuts, and flowers to feed four Medium creatures for a day. When making a Crafting or Cooking Lore skill check involving the use of raw ingredients, (such as preparing a dish) as long as at least two servings of berries, nuts, and flowers from your most recent daily preparations remain in your possession, you gain a +2 circumstance bonus to the skill check.

Gimble Sauropod Scales a

Feat 6

Prerequisites Tulgey wood ranger

Requirements Your last action was a successful Strike with a slashing melee weapon or melee weapon in the sword group.

The word "gimble" originates from the Fey word for "gracefully pierce through tough material." As a tulgey wood ranger, you've mastered the delicate art of tearing through natural armor such as dragonscale or ophidian hides. The target of the required Strike must attempt a Fortitude save against your class DC.

Critical Success The target is unaffected.
Success The target's resistance to physical damage, if any, is reduced by your level, and they take persistent bleed damage equal to half your level.
Failure As success, except the persistent bleed damage is equal to the weapon damage die of the required weapon, and the target is sickened 1 as long as the bleed persists.
Critical Failure As failure, except the target takes double damage from the persistent bleed damage and is sickened 2 as long as the bleed persists.

Frumious Fervor f

Feat 8

archetyperanger

Prerequisites Tulgey wood ranger
Frequency Once per day
Trigger You succeed, but not critically succeed, at a Strike against your manxome foe.

The word "frumious" originates from the Fey word for "incalculable fury". As a tulgey wood ranger, you must be possessed of a determination of legendary proportions, you must recognize the barest opportunities and seize them without hestation. Attempt a DC 17 flat check, on a success, the triggering hit becomes a critical hit. On a critical failure, the triggering hit becomes a miss. If the target of the triggering Strike had any one of the beast, dragon, fey, or tane traits, the flat check is DC 16 instead.

Uffish Vigor

Feat 12

archetyperanger

Prerequisites Tulgey wood ranger, Frumious Fervor

The word "uffish" originates from the Fey word for "resolute defiance." As a tulgey wood ranger, your stamina must be inexhaustible and your reflexes ever-sharp. The frequency of Frumious Fervor becomes once per minute instead of once per day.

Unparalelled Frumiosity

Feat 16

archetyperanger

Prerequisites Tulgey wood ranger, Uffish Vigor

The greatest of tulgey wood rangers (known as Frabjous Tulgites) have mastered the elusive art of making deadliest cuts from the barest of scratches and perform such marvels as naturally as they breathe. Eyewitnesses describe deep lacerations or even dismemberment emerging suddenly from what appeared to be surface-level cuts. The frequency of Frumious Fervor becomes once per round instead of once per day.

Borogove Bird

animalminion

A close friend and companion of many tulgey wood rangers is the miserable borogove bird (pronounced BORROW-gove). A shabby, decrepit-looking creature, they resemble lanky parrots with dull coloration and large, piteous eyes.

Size Small
Melee a jaws (finesse) Damage 1d6 piercing
Str -1 Dex +3 Con -1 Int -4 Wis +2 Cha +2
Hit Points 4
Skill Stealth
Senses Darkvision, hearing (imprecise, 30 feet)
Speed 15 feet, fly 50 feet
Support Benefit The borogove's mimsy cries make enemies feel guilty for making it sad. Until the start of your next turn, enemies take a -1 circumstance penalty to attack rolls made against the borogove bird. If your borogove bird is an advanced companion, enemies instead take a -2 circumstance to attack rolls made against the borogove bird, and a -1 circumstance penalties to attack rolls made against its allies.
