Wyrmwielder (Gunslinger Class Archetype)

Wyrmwielder (Class Archetype)

Rarity Rare
When old and new worlds collide, sparks fly. The advent of firearms on Golarion has led to many would-be dragonslayers hoping their new weapons would let them claim a dragon’s head and hoard for themselves.
Most of these have never been heard from again.
On occasion, however, dragons encountering firearms have become curious, and befriended the person behind the trigger. Curiosity leads to conversation, conversation leads to friendship, and sometimes friendship results in a dragon mentoring a young gunslinger. Primal dragons have shown the greatest interest in these weapons, recognizing their ability to harness destructive powers not unlike their elemental breath. As a strange type of dragon pact, some primal wyrms have mystically empowered these pupils, teaching them to channel raw quintessence from the environment into their weapons. This way, they too can experience the raw intoxication of unleashing a version of their own dragon’s breath upon their foes.

Way of the Wyrm

You’ve basked in the presence of a dragon, and breathed in their essence. Whether out of true curiosity or some long-term machination, they asked you to teach them about firearms. In exchange, your mentor helped you better understand the natural world. Using your gun as a conduit, you channel the elements into blasting forces not unlike the breath weapons of primal dragons. As you hone your abilities, you may even be able to overwhelm archdragons some day. You must select Wyrmwielder Dedication as your 2nd-level class feat.
Prerequisites: You must be a gunslinger.
Wyrmwielder Adjustments: Instead of choosing a way from the options listed in the gunslinger class, you have the way of the wyrm. It has the following way skill, slinger’s reload, and deeds. You gain these abilities at the same levels as normal for the class. You can choose Wisdom for your class DC.

Slinger's Reload

Searing Vent

gunslinger

Requirements You’re wielding a two-handed firearm

Unlike true dragons, you can be damaged by compressed energy in an enclosed space, and so you rapidly expel the heat inside your gun barrel. You may either Step or make a Nature check to Shove an opponent within your reach, then Interact to reload. For this Shove, you don’t need a free hand, and you add the weapon’s item bonus on attack rolls (if any) to the Nature check. If your last action or activity included the attack trait, use the same multiple attack penalty as the last action you took for the Shove; the Shove still counts towards your multiple attack penalty on further attacks as normal.

Initial Deed

Stoke the Furnace f

concentrateprimalwyrmwielder

Trigger You roll initiative.

You briefly recall your mentor’s lair, opening yourself to the natural wonders that they and all primal dragons embrace. You can interact to draw a two-handed firearm. Attempt a Recall Knowledge check against an opponent you can see and then choose Acid, Cold, Electricity, or Fire. For 1 minute, you can choose for your firearm to use this type of energy for its damage, except when you activate alchemical or magical ammunition that changes the damage type of individual attacks.
You can transfer Stoke the Furnace to a different two-handed firearm you are wielding with one-action that has the concentrate trait.

Advanced Deed

Fire with Fire r

9th

primalwyrmwielder

Trigger An enemy deals damage to you using the same type of energy you selected with Stoke the Furnace.

Your elemental connection lets you absorb a little bit of pain before releasing it back upon your foes, just as cinder dragons roil with fire just before unleashing it. You gain resistance against the triggering damage equal to your level. Your next Strike or Serpent Surge gains a circumstance bonus to damage equal to the amount of damage you reduced.

Greater Deed

Requirements You are wielding a loaded two-handed firearm.

You are fully in tune with the storm and stress of draconic power, allowing you to unleash continuous waves of devastation. You use Serpent Surge twice with a single expenditure of ammunition. Sturm und Drang does not incur a misfire.

Wyrmwielder Archetype Feats

Wyrmwielder Dedication

Feat 2

archetypeclassdedication

Prerequisites way of the wyrm

Your way of battle allows you to lock down and control large areas with your firearm by channeling the breath of dragons. You gain the Serpent Surge and Target Area actions.
Serpent Surge aa (area, attack) Requirements You are wielding a loaded two-handed firearm; Effect You attempt to hit each creature in a designated area. Any creatures in the area must succeed at a basic Reflex save against your class DC plus the value of any potency runes the weapon has (you don’t roll an attack roll). This damage is area damage. Creatures who critically fail this save are subject to effects that occur on a critical hit with this weapon, including the weapon’s critical specialization effect.
Serpent Surge expends ammunition as though it were a ranged Strike and counts as a ranged attack for the purpose of triggering reactions. Firearms used in this fashion are put under intense amounts of strain—using Serpent Surge twice in the same turn causes the weapon to misfire.
Target Area f Trigger You begin your first turn of combat; Effect Choose either a 20-foot cone or a 40-foot line. This is the designated area for your Serpent Surge until combat ends.

Gilded Mercy

Feat 4

archetype

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication

Your draconic spirit has not cut you off entirely from your sense of camaraderie. When you use Serpent Surge, one ally of your choice in the designated area is unaffected by your attack.

Oppressive Blast

Feat 4

archetype

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication

Your draconic mentor has taught you how to force your enemies back when you unleash primal might. Enemies in the area of your Serpent Surge who fail their save against your attack take a –1 circumstance penalty on attack rolls and a –10-foot status penalty to their Speeds until the start of your next turn.

Ravenous Consumption

Feat 6

archetypeprimal

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication

You have delved into darker knowledge, encompassing reclusive horned dragons and undead raveners, allowing you to incorporate their auras into your techniques. You add Poison and Void to the list of damage types available to you when using Stoke the Furnace.

Shimmering Scales a

Feat 8

archetypeconcentrate

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication
Frequency once per day

Dragons can be fickle. In order to stay alive, you’ve learned never to be fixed into one style or one way. In a flash, you change strategies.
You can either select a different energy type from Stoke the Furnace or a different designated area (cone or line) from Target Area. Shimmering Scales also adds 1 minute to the duration of Stoke the Furnace.

Boiling Breath

Feat 10

archetypeprimal

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication

Brine dragons add volatile salts in their breath attacks to devastating effect. When you use Serpent Surge, the designated area becomes difficult terrain for 1 minute. In addition, a creature who fails its saving throw takes 2d6 persistent damage of the same type (double damage on a critical failure).

Forceful Exhale

Feat 12

archetype

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication

Your draconic mentor grows in cunning, and so do you. A reinforced barrel choke for your gun and better control over your powers expands your reach. Your designated area for Target Area increases to either a 30-foot cone or a 60-foot line. When you reach 18th level, these areas become either a 40-foot cone or an 80-foot line.

Storm’s Crown aa

Feat 18

archetypeprimal

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication
Frequency once per hour; Requirements You are wielding a loaded two-handed firearm.

Your mentor is an ancient stormcrown dragon, or used their influence to permit you study time with one. By proving your strength, cunning, and willingness to do whatever it takes to dominate the field of war, you have been granted their secrets.
You fire a massive blast from your firearm at one creature within 100 feet, dealing 10d12 damage of your Stoke the Furnace’s energy damage type, with a basic Reflex save against your class DC. The energy then arcs to a creature of your choice within 60 feet of the previous target with the same effect. You can’t target the same creature more than once, and you must have line of effect to all targets. The blast can continue to arc this way until you run out of targets or until a target critically succeeds at their save. Storm’s Crown expends ammunition as though you had used a ranged Strike.

Archdragon Surge

Feat 20

archetype

Prerequisites Wyrmwielder Dedication

The spirit of an archdragon flows through you. Your proficiency rank for your gunslinger class DC increases to Legendary. Using Serpent Surge no longer risks incurring a misfire, and you can use Serpent Surge as if it were a two-action Strike whenever you are quickened.
