Zorza

This tapered bo staff is made of duskwood and dragonscale, adorned with gold along its sides and decorative branches. A golden draconic head with amber eyes and metal lining beneath it rests at its top. Its shaft is covered in arcane runes that repeat along its entire length. While wielded and invested, the gems adorning the draconic head glow with bright light, and the runes covering the staff activate. Its tongue lights up and begins to expel elemental energy of the draconic origin it currently manifests.

An ancient artifact from the Age Before Ages, it comes from a time when the world was shaped by powerful beings unaware of the destruction their conflicts would bring. Among these conflicts were those between powerful draconic deities, whose battles left entire regions in ruin. Scorched lands and fallen kingdoms were among many casualties of the profane destruction wrought by Dahak before his brethren managed to cast him into Hell.

During this time, civilizations needed guardians against powerful draconic forces. Before the Earthfall, at the height of their power, the Ekujae elves had selflessly dedicated their lives to fighting the threats of chaos. Yet when the draconic threat gained direct divine interference that sought only their destruction, they reached out to gods of their own. In response, their elven pantheon gave their queen a gift that would give them hope to see the dawn of a new day.

Zorza - named after the new dawn that this relic would help them see - became a tool for destroying forces of chaos, growing in power with every beast slain. Its powerful shaft was reinforced by the might of Ketephys and Findeladlara, while Desna and Yuelral imbued it with powerful magic. Yet the blessing that strengthened the relic the most came from Calistria; seeing the elves' desire for vengeance against those who had slain their kin, she enchanted Zorza with a power that would grow as its wielder pursued that retribution, becoming stronger with every beast slain in defense of their people.

With this power, the Ekujae elves no longer feared the wrath of the draconic gods. They became protectors throughout the Age Before Ages and into the time of Earthfall.

After the Earthfall, Zorza has traveled from soul to soul, seeking those willing to carry its burden, keeping draconic threats at bay and preparing its wielders to face Dahak and his spawn once again.
