Welcome to the Tourney of the Tatzelwyrm! At long last, we are preparing to start the contest on [DATE]. To get you ready for the contest, this blog post explains how to submit an entry.
First, make sure to register for the site using this link: https://theteamplus.us/wp-login.php?action=register
You will need an account to submit entries and vote, so remember your login information!
Make sure to fill out all your information in your Profile tab, such as links, social media and mail address! This is really important so we’ll have a way to contact you if you were to win the contest!
Next, you’ll head on over to the submission page. This link will be edited in when the contest is up! The form is divided into a few sections:
Overview of the Entry Form
Remember, no submission in the contest should give any information about the user that’s submitting the entry. For example, do not include your real name, username, Discord tag, social media links, and the like in any part of your submission. We can check who submitted what with our systems, as long as you filled up your information in your profile; so don’t worry about not being contacted! Also, in the voting area, which we’ll show you another time, you won’t be able to see who submitted an entry, but only the entry itself.
Entry Title: Type in here what you want your entry to be called. Do not include any personally identifying information or anything offensive, or your entry will be disqualified.
Entry Type: Here you select what type of submission your entry is. You may select multiple boxes if your submission fits multiple categories.
Submission Tier: Here you select if you are a standard contestant or a professional. If you have been published in a hardcover book (such as a Pathfinder Rulebook, Lost Omens, or Battlezoo’s bestiaries), have been a contractor for Team+, or are a judge for Tourney of the Tatzelwyrm, select the Professional entry. Otherwise, choose Standard.
The Entry Box: This box is where you actually write your entry. This is heavily based off of PF2e Scribe, so if you know that well, the formatting is very similar. If not, look below!
Submission Button: Once you are done, you can press this button to submit your entry. A word count display is next to it, allowing you to keep track of how big your entry is. The button will not allow you to submit if your entry is below or above the limit, and the counter will be red to indicate it is not a valid length for entry.
Explaining the Entry Box
Typing text will have it appear on the page, but if you want formatting, the entry box has a wide variety of options. At the top is a bar with several buttons. Hovering over them provides a tooltip in case you need to remember what they are used for. Many of these formatting options work with each other, such as placing bolded text within a Sample box, or splitting the entire document into two columns.
B : This BOLDS text. The text to be bolded should go between each pair of asterisks, like so:
I : This italicizes text. The text to be italicized should go between each asterisk, like so:
H1, H2, H3 : These make headings. H1 is the largest, H2 is smaller, and H3 is the smallest. The text of your header is after your pound sign, but on the same line
– : This makes a horizontal line.
Head: Head is useful for the title of your entry and its description.
Item: This makes an example block for an item or feat, complete with traits, level, and usage.
Note: This makes a box for notes.
Rules: This makes a box for rules.
Sample: This makes another type of box.
Math: Another type of box.
Info: This is a big red box.
Left, Right: These options make a sidebar for the left third of the page or the right third of the page.
Traits: This allows you to make a trait box. Separate each trait by a comma.
Watermark and Title: These aren’t likely to be used for this contest, but in case you’re wanting to learn Scribe formatting for your own purpose, they are here.
Page : This makes a new page, even if your current one is not full.
Column: This makes a new column, useful for two column formatting. If you want to go back to single line formatting, put a single forward slash (/) on its own line. (Which is also a button called Break)
Break: This ends multiple column formatting.
(The above image uses a backslash (\) to allow me to display | without it making a new column. This backslash method is also useful if you need to use asterisks without bolding or italicizing text)
At the very bottom, there’s also a text field called Art Direction. This field is used to give some directions for your entry’s winning drawing, if you win! You don’t have to fill this part out if you don’t want to, you can leave it empty if you don’t have ideas, and this won’t affect your score at all. This will be useful for Team+ to help them make your submission come to life in the final book!
