Major Changes to the Graung’s Guide Patreon

Howdy all! I’m Ian, but you probably would know me better as Aye Spydie on just about every platform, and I’ve got some big news for Graung’s Guide to Golarion fans! As the series has progressed, the content in each new book has expanded pretty significantly. The most recent book, Ancestries of the Impossible Lands, was the biggest undertaking yet. Work is already underway on the next title, Ancestries of the Darklands, but this project is already proving to be another big one. In fact, it’s looking like it will be so big that I don’t think I can rely on […]

Horror Movies for your party: A Deep-Dive into Folio of Fear!

ADVENTURERS BEWARE! YOU’RE IN FOR A SCARE! Oíche Shamhna, Oíche Shamhna! I take Halloween very seriously. Every October, I watch as many horror movies as I can, I go for walks late at night and I binge horror podcasts  (I heavily recommend The Wrong Station for some really, really good quality horror fiction!). Partially it’s because I’m autistic. Mostly, it’s because Halloween is an Irish holiday. Evolved from the Samhain festival that marked the end of the Light season and the beginning of the Dark season (which lasts until Bealtaine in May!), I’ve grown up with stories of old Irish traditions around […]

Fireside Talk with Otmi: Playtesting 101

Hello dear readers! I’m Otmi, you might have seen me in the Team+ Discord, or you may be familiar for my work in Even More Magic on Pathfinder Infinite (go check it out if you haven’t already!). But for this blog post, I wanted to peel the curtain a bit, and explain to you folks my five Hows for playtesting: How the playtesting process works; How I approach playtesting; How I prepare and run playtest games; How I formulate my feedback; How I go around the table for post session feedback, elaborating on pressure points and the aforementioned feedback (this […]

Up SLH’s Sleeve: The Spirit of the Little German Boy

I saw a post recently about a meme that was pretty popular on Tumblr for a time. The meme format involves warning a little German boy not to go in some weirdly specific location (in the original, a “weed cave”), followed by poorly accented German describing the location he wanders into anyways with a silly German compound word (in the prior example, “bluntensmoken”). This post in particular posited that there is no consistent depiction of the little German boy, and that he embodies the spirit of lollipops and lederhosen but can take any form to wear those. Anyways, I thought […]

Shining Kingdoms: An Irish Perspective

Derry Luttrell is an author and artist on Team+, and recently received their first writing credit on a Pathfinder book in Lost Omens: Shining Kingdoms, where they wrote the current events, a monster entry and the Shining Kingdom Factions entry. This blog post is about their experience and feelings about their work here. It was supposed to be a short “haha this was fun!”, but they have a lot of feelings, a desire to write about them, and ADHD.   Being Irish: The accessory heritage In November 2017, I was given Peter Griffin as an example of good Irish representation.  […]

Ranthony Rants: The Skill Issue

To define a design space you need to first design what space you have. For many designs in PF2, this often is done by the negative space of what you cannot do with a skill feat, when it is okay to change those things, and when doing so isn’t disruptive to the design or concepts present in the game.   First, let’s start with the basic criteria for a skill feat:   It interacts with a skill or skill action. It is below the power level of a Class Feat It can be taken by many different types of characters […]

Cera’s Wild Ride #2: IT’S PAYDAY FELLAS

IT’S PAYDAY FELLAS Lately, I’ve been thinking about ways you could spice up the general playstyle of PF2E. Y’know how some feats like the entirety of the Medic archetype are godlike, because you almost always have 10 minutes to patch up, while things like Armour Assist fall to the wayside, because there is just no scenario where you have exactly 1-5 minutes to prepare, and not more nor fewer? How there’s almost no point in nonlethal attacks because every combat is to the death unless it makes sense storywise, or how having high carrying capacity doesn’t really matter because most […]
